A STATEMENT
At A Crowded Space, the goal has never been to blend in. We want to create work that stands apart. Especially in the current climate where we have an abundance of films of the social realism genre.
This isn’t to say that those films aren’t important and necessary. They are. And while it has its place and power, we believe the same depth and complexity can thrive within crime and action cinema. We look back to films like The Long Good Friday, Sexy Beast, and Michael Mann’s Thief, works that carried true grit mixed with emotion and suspense in equal measure. That spirit of storytelling is our ethos: to craft films that thrill while still cutting deep.
We’re aiming for a festival run that sparks real global momentum. Out of Aces is a story built to sit alongside the very best of contemporary cinema. Gritty, ambitious, and made to strike a chord with audiences worldwide.
TARGET
AUDIENCE
The crime genre continues to attract wide audiences, with proven global success in recent releases (The Last Stop in Yuma County, Blue Ruin, Calibre).
Out of Aces will stand out by combining the grit of classic British crime with a modern, character-driven narrative, delivering the kind of fresh stories today’s viewers are craving but rarely find in the market.
With budgets of £5–10 million consistently proving profitable, this film is positioned to please audiences while offering strong commercial potential.
CAST IDEAS
There’s a reason we’ve been able to attract the talent we have - not just for this proof of concept, but in our earlier work as well. It comes down to story and character: material actors can truly sink their teeth into.
We’re confident this script will continue to entice a powerful cast, the kind that elevates a film to new heights. Rory Alexander, currently filming the second season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, has already expressed his determination to reprise his role in the feature as Monday, a testament to the pull of this project.
With him and other established names joining the ensemble, Out of Aces has the momentum and talent to cut through and make a lasting mark.
